Viewport Studio set out to dramatically reduce the energy and resources required for producing domestic furniture, while still creating enduring pieces that will be loved and used in everyday life. The result is Essential, a furniture range that has been sourced, developed, and manufactured from discarded timber within a 10 mile radius of its production location.

Utilizing local and regional resources, the studio is dedicated to maintaining a balance between technological manufacturing techniques and hand-made craftsmanship. All pieces are either small editions or made to order and embrace the makers hand as well as the intrinsic qualities of the materials used. Each piece is made by Vonnegut/Kraft in their Sunset Park, Brooklyn workshop. Vonnegut/Kraft has exhibited their work around the world and has been featured in numerous publications including the New York Times, T Magazine, Elle D¨¦cor, and Wallpaper magazine

Victor Castanera (Barcelona, 1990) is a product designer graduated from Elisava school of design in 2012 with an erasmus program at Politecnico di Milano(2014). He lives and works in Barcelona. In 2018 he joins the iconic furniture brand BD Barcelona as a product developer combining his personal work as a designer and he has the oportunity to see design from a different perspective and expand his knowledge in terms of production and development.
