Terunobu Fujimori is an Architect and Historian of Japanese architecture, Profes-sor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo, Research Professor of Kogakuin University, Managing Director of Edo-Tokyo Museum. Born in 1946 in Nagano, Japan, he received a Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in 1980. Appointed professor of the University of Tokyo and professor of Kogakuin University, successively prior to present positions. Started designing at the age of 45 with his first work, the Jichokan Moriya Historical Museum. The numerous built works includes museums, houses, a dormitory, a hot spa and teahouses like the one named “To high Teahouse” (2004, Nagano, Japan). Amongst the recent works, the “Grass Roof” of La Collina Taneya (2015, Shiga, Japan), and the Mo-saic Tile Museum (2016, Tajimi, Japan). He was the Japan commissioner at the 2006 Venice Biennale.
