Met een anatomische kijk op mijn directe omgeving neem ik het organisch gegroeide waar. Zoek ik het spanningsveld op van het natuurlijke en het cultureel gevormde. Ik ontleed dingen uit beide en leg visuele verbanden die zich uiten in verzamelingen. De bundelingen die onderlinge collecties vormen, komen voort vanuit een intu?tief proefondervindelijk werkproces. Alles vindt plaats in eigen atelier, van eerste idee tot laatste hand.

What
jvantspijker is a Rotterdam-based, fresh urban and architectural design practice. We are intrigued by diversity in (public) space, integrated sustainable solutions and in understanding and steering the project processes that are invariably the driving force behind projects. Our ultimate goal is to make things.
The jvantspijker business model is set up flexibly, to merge the experience and momentum of large design assignments with the fresh joie de vivre of an exploring attitude. In this set-up the network is everything. As a result, these is an enormous reservoir of specialist knowledge and consulting specialists is available when necessary.
jvantspijker participates in and is co-founder of CULD, complex urban landscape design. In this joint venture with Juurlink [+] Geluk, we have combined our accumulated experiences to pursue large, complex (international) master planning.
Why
To generate and grab opportunities in a volatile and unpredictable economic time, we believe that a radically agile, mean and lean office model is required. Therefore, having accumulated over 15 years of working in diverse settings, jvantspijker was set up, combining the advantages of experience and an extended professional network with the eagerness and fresh edge of a start-up company.
Lateral, integrated, parallel organization of the design process as well as of the (networked) project process are typical of our approach. With open links and in touch with the world that surrounds us.
How
The motto of the office is to create open specific design. Open says something about our attitude to projects, clients and their diverse backgrounds and wishes. The term is also about the output of the office: the designs, buildings and urban landscapes should be open for interpretation and use rather than patronizing and determining. Open can still be very specific. We believe that the right kind of specificity works as a trigger for identification, both for designers as well as for designs and their users.
Integrated thinking and a professional yet inquisitive design approach are typical for the office way of working.

Jeroen de Nijs starts every new project with no preconceived style because he is averse to repeating himself. Jeroen tries to reinvent himself each time, so that his designs are authentic and original in appearance. To design a ‘made-to-measure suit’ for his clients, this method also ensures that Jeroen puts his personal design preferences aside. Whether it’s an interior, a piece of furniture, or a building, it reflects the client in the final result. Designer Jeroen de Nijs prefers to work together with a client to realize a project. He wants to be a partner throughout the process to inspire and complement each other so that the project reaches a higher level. Jeroen finds inspiration in his clients and the environment surrounding them. That affects the space and atmosphere, which determine the shape, materials and detailing. Surprising sightlines and a feeling of space characterize Jeroen’s work. As a result of this vision, Jeroen de Nijs’ designs are not recognized as one particular style but there is a kind of signature in the diversity of designs which Jeroen has done in recent years. This shows that he has a preference on how materials are processed and a craftsmanship that lends a certain rawness to his designs. In combination with the visual language it uses, there is something clear and timeless in his work. The final result of Jeroen’s work is free from fashionable influences. But whether it’s interior, furniture or architecture, Jeroen de Nijs essentially designs spaces … with a soul …

Jelena Havelka Todorovikj was born in Osijek, Croatia. She graduated Study of design in 2001. at the Faculty of Architecture. During her studies she did design practice at the API, Universidad Politecnica de Valencia. In 2006. she finished postgraduate study MA Interior Design at the University of Westminster, London. During her studies she was awarded with seven different scholarships. She achieved success in many design related fields, one of notable achievements is design of the entire gown for The Holy Father John Paul II. and mass vestments for all 300 priests participating in the religious ceremony held in 2003. in Croatia. Among many exhibition participations, she exhibited her product designs at the IMM Cologne fair, presented her work at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York. She has been selected as completed work finalist in VII Porcelanosa Awards competition in Valencia. In 2012. she opens her studio Havelkadesign and work mostly in the field of interior design.
