Medusa Group is an interdisciplinary design studio established in 1997 in Silesia by Przemo Łukasik and Łukasz Zagała. Over the past twenty years, the team of its young architects has significantly expanded their scope of activity gaining specialised experience and becoming one of the most recognisable project brands in Poland and abroad. Practice is located in two cities in Poland: Warsaw and Bytom and is active as Medusa London Limited in London.

When we start a project we pay a lot of attention to the context. We explore the site and it’s surroundings in order to find out what existing qualities can be enhanced and which challenges the project needs to attend to. We have come to think that one cannot make a good project with a building that is badly situated. The site – however it appears – is an important resource. How one makes use of this resource is probably the most critical part of an architect’s work.

I was born in the Guard, Portugal. I studied architecture at the University of Coimbra in Portugal and at the Faculty of Architecture at the Politecnico di Torino in Italy. In 2005, I collaborated with the Portuguese Chamber of Architects on the research program IAPXX - Portuguese Architecture of the 20th Century. In 2006, I obtained a license as an architect of the Portuguese Chamber of Architecture while working in Porto and Prague with architects Jiran Kohout. In 2007, I founded the Portuguese company Tecnicidade and continued my professional relationships in Prague, where I worked as an architect since 2008. I worked on projects in the Czech Republic, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan, Kazakhstan, Portugal and Angola.

Graduated from the Academy of Art Saint-Luc Brussels as an Interior Designer in 2013. I decided to pursue a Masters Degree in Scenography to complete my formation and graduated with ‘Distinction’ in 2015. These five years of superior studies have concluded with a dissertation about a Belgian video artist and performer, Ariane Loze, that gave me the opportunity to talk about the different levels of the scenography starting with the origin of it which means: the story or also the script.
