Jorge Almaz¨¢n Architects is an architecture and urban design practice committed to create environmentally responsible and socially inclusive spaces. Based in Tokyo, and with projects in Japan and Spain, we find constant sources of inspiration in the Japanese material sensitivity and in the Mediterranean urban liveliness. Our practice is translocal: We believe in the international transferring of ideas, and in the critical distance afforded by a foreign gaze, but at the same time we always commit to the local materiality and spatial practices of each context

Working across scale and traditional boundaries, JAJA strives to create architecture, landscape, and urban planning from a holistic perspective. We aim to make each intervention a distinct, yet natural part of its environment, to create a dialogue between the project and the inherent qualities of the location. We believe that projects with strong roots in their physical environment create greater experiences and added value, not only to the project but also to the surrounding community.

His photography background is connected with the development of the Polish skateboarding scene. Today’s art work of Jan Kriwol is strongly influenced by his “street, urban, skate” experience. This ingredient is often mixed with comic books and youth culture flavor. Pictures made by Jan are full of optical illusions, visual jokes, finished with careful and smart digital mastering.

The inspiration for this book came to me one afternoon as I watched my son, Hudson, playing with his toy bus. I was trying to keep pace with his three-year-old mind as he got deeper and deeper into a fantasy involving nothing more than a yellow plastic box and armless figurines. At least that's what I saw. He saw frantic commuters rushing to catch the 77 local bus to Australia. He jumped in place, mouth open and slapping his knees, joyously reacting to a world I couldn't see, but one powerfully present for him.
