GutGut is a dynamic architecture studio based in Bratislava, Slovakia, with experience ranging from small interventions through to housing and masterplanning. The trans-generational duo Štefan Polakovič and Lukáš Kordík have been shifting the line between private and public domain, testing the boundaries of each project brief. Their built portfolio includes the award-winning refurbishment of a prefabricated socialist block in Rimavská Sobota, a residential complex on Dunajska Street in Bratislava and the conversion of an industrial complex Mlynica into a dynamic mixed use hub combining living, co-working and offices. gutgut has developed a strong design ethos focusing on re-claiming and maximising of space for social interaction and softening the boundaries between private and shared space, bringing back values of community and exchange.

Tiny house lover. Container-size like houses inspired me to learn more about compact living. But I was disappointed in modular architecture because of width limitations. So I switched to transformable design. This is when we came up with the idea of folding houses. It took me a while to get thoughts together and do something about my obsession with transforming houses. Now, we develop low-impact folding houses and hope to implement them in the industries, related to movability.

Gül GÜVEN received her BS degree in architecture from Istanbul Technical University, years between 1984 and 1988. After graduation, She attended Middle East Technical University, Architecture Faculty and achieved her MS in Restoration in 1993. She founded VEN Architecture in 1991 in Ankara. The branch VENistanbul joined in 2012. The company continues to work on many projects both locally and internationally. She has received prestigious awards from competitions she attended. Green Good Design (2014), International Property Awards (2014), WAF (2013), Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Architecture Awards (2012) , Kayseri Courthouse (2009), YEM Design Award (2008), French Cultural Center (2008) were some of her important accomplishments. She also worked as a part-time instructor at the Architecture Department of Hacettepe University and Çankaya University in Turkiye from 2003 through 2009. Güven has also served as a jury member at Ankara Courthouse and Knauf -Design competitions. Additionally, she was speaker at many architectural and design seminars, congress and panels such as Sinan's Week, Archild Congress and Building Information Methodology in Sustainable Architecture. Güven is a member of the Chamber of Architects of Turkey, RIBA, TSMD (Turkish Association of Architects in Private Practice), Korder (The Association of Restoration and Preservation), Kagider (Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey).
