We are a team of architects based in Oporto, Portugal. We have worked in several projects with varied programs within the residential and services scope. Our main motivation has been the development of new ideas and concepts in housing, which is, from our point of view, one of the main areas within the architecture’s practice. We promote our work by questioning the different perspectives of space use, the adaptation of buildings to the contemporary needs or, more specifically, the intentions of its future users. The relationship with its surroundings is the trigger for the base definitions of a conscious intervention with regards to the use of natural resources, allowing to an efficient exploitation of the site’s characteristics.

With more than a decade and a half of existence, D-A Studio operates contractually with public and private entities, developing projects in architecture, conservation and restoration, urbanism, and public space. The work developed by D-A Studio was awarded and distinguished, being frequently published in architecture books and magazines.

We create architectural pieces. Specializing in housing, services and mixed used architecture, is in the reconstruction and rehabilitation we have our focus. Striving for sustainability and cultural values, we seek not 'fashions' but what is meant to be timeless quality. It is not just a question of thinking outside the box, we need to try, try and try again. We feel the need to put everything we got into each new project, and we don’t seek approval, we seek perfection instead. We try to be brave enough to edit rather than keep on adding and above all we never be afraid to push boundaries, because that’s the only way to achieve such an amassing simplicity, lightness and excellence once seemly unattainable, yet now so widely admired.

From experimental play Dalila Gonçalves tests the permeability of materials and processes of artistic practice and daily life. By using video, photography and installation she conceives objects that do not always imply real transformation of things but rather materializations of subtle unexpected, ironic, absurd and metaphorical use of matter. The subtlety of the information, the nature of materials or the modus operandi chosen, play with the very relation of “perception” and the idea of “evidence”. These strange moments are, perhaps, the kind of border between the physical reality and fiction which trigger the mechanisms of feeling and thinking that give meaning to art object.

Diogo Aguiar Studio is a Portuguese architecture studio founded in Porto in 2016. It operates between the fields of Art and Architecture, developing custom-conceived buildings and interiors and spatial installations, oscillating between public and private contexts. The studio focuses on spatial and material experimentation in the pursuit of creating immersive and sensorially appealing spaces. The emerging practice has been distinguished with several publications and nominations for international awards. In 2018, the studio was selected to integrate the official Portuguese Representation at the 16th Architecture Venice Biennale – Public Without Rhetoric.
